Venus Sophia Tea Room & Vegetarian Eatery was created out of dreams and serendipity. There’s a story of magic behind those unlikely doors in Victoria’s Chinatown. Doors which open to a world of true love, a world of beauty.

Not too long ago, the quaint tearoom was acquired by Alain & Sallie El Alaily; a result of a life-changing encounter which had surreally taken place only weeks after their move to Victoria. Grateful for the once in a life time opportunity which fate had presented them, they began the unfolding of Venus Sophia into the dream they had always shared together. By intertwining tea culture with their passion for Vegetarian cuisine and Egyptian (their native country) hospitality; a unique lifestyle concept was introduced in the shape of a bistro. The essential refashioning of the room to create a unique, welcoming “old world charm meets modern elegance” ambience was the final touch; made complete with soft jazzy tunes and European flair.

 As for our name, Venus Sophia is symbolic for beauty, love and wisdom – values we nourish. We are a locally owned, family-run bistro. We love offering everyone a heartfelt service and food made with care; we want your visit to Venus Sophia to be a memorable one!
